Safety
Safety Is the Most Important Consideration
Little League Baseball has the best record of safety and protection of any youth athletic program in the world. Such refinements in safety practices result from continuing studies, application of rigid standards in equipment and the adoption of rules and regulations distilled from long experience. The medical world has praised Little League for instituting regulations that limit physical exertion during this crucial phase in the development of the child. Parents may be assured their children utilize the best and safest equipment available, as required by Little League Regulations. Administrative training through Little League Baseball has created an atmosphere of concern and safety-consciousness unequaled by other programs.
Emergency Medical Forms
The Parent/Guardian Consent Form must be filled out in order for a child to play in Little League. Parents must provide the name and phone numbers of the family doctor and dentist. Each team Manager in the case of emergency carries this information.
Safety Clinic: A Safety Clinic is held prior to the beginning of each season and is mandatory for all Little League Managers and Coaches
Insurance
Player Accident Insurance
The local league, not the parent, pays player accident insurance through Little League Baseball. It provides benefits for eligible charges up to a possible maximum of $100,000.
This insurance covers all eligible expenses not covered by the DLL participant’s own health insurance. If the participant does not have health insurance, then Little League covers all eligible expenses less a $50 deductible.
Little League accident insurance covers eligible participants while traveling directly to and from the field as well as during practice sessions, games and other Little League sponsored events. The benefits include provisions for accident, death or dismemberment and also for medical expenses. Coverage also extends to volunteers involved in authorized activities.
In the event there is an accident, the parent must contact the Treasurer, Evelyn Smaldon for proper procedure and forms to complete.
